Erica Clark - Chez Bonser Patisserie

“There’s rarely a baked good or dessert that I won’t try to make. I have an inability to say No.”

Erica Clark is the co-founder of Chez Bonser Patisserie, the name of which is derived from what she and her co-founder, LeRoy Bonser, affectionately referred to as their house (‘Chez Bonser’) when inviting guests to taste their delicious, homemade, gourmet baked goods. (A patisserie is where French pastries and cakes are sold.) “I had baked for family friends for years.  Baking serves as my creative outlet”, Erica says.

She started her business in 2013, when she found herself out of work and searching for a job.  “I began to have more success with my baking than my job search.  Finding and creating recipes fueled my passion.  Perfecting and sharing family recipes that makes others happy is what inspires me. I also love the creative freedom, knowing that I’m in control of my own successes or failures. I love to be able to try new ideas!”

One thing most people don’t know about Erica is that she loves 80s pop culture – including John Hughes movies and cheesy saxophone music. Erica will be soon introducing a new cookie to “help us get through these cold winters days – soft, gooey, dark chocolate, homemade caramel…” Stay tuned, ladies!

Erica has been a member of NAWBO Philadelphia for three years and is currently a member of the Membership Committee.  “From my first NAWBO event, I was immediately welcomed. The warm reception I received is what convinced me to become a member. I keep renewing my membership because of the sense of community among other local, female entrepreneurs. NAWBO is an organization that doesn’t ask a lot from its members – time or financially – but you definitely get out of what you’re willing to put in.”
